Members are invited to join us for our first Virtual Hustings ahead of the Scottish Parliamentary elections on Thursday 6th May.

Your chance to hear not only more about SWA's own ‘Decarbonisation of the Wholesale Industry’ project but from other businesses, and bodies, that are leading the way in hydrogen vehicle fleet deployment.

From local production of green hydrogen through to vehicle refuelling solutions that can support the wider deployment of zero emission logistics fleets.

SWA has become a founder member of Circularity Scotland Ltd, the new, not-for-profit company seeking to become the Scheme Administrator of Scotland’s proposed Deposit Return Scheme (DRS).

SWA has linked up with Zero Waste Scotland (ZWS) to promote its redistribution and matchmaking service that will help SWA members redistribute food which would otherwise go to waste. This includes products that are nearing expiry date or excess stockholdings due to stock bought ahead of lockdown/EU Exit.

Scotland’s First Minister has confirmed that work is ongoing with businesses with high Covid-19 transmission risks to introduce routine testing for their workforces. "High risk" sectors include food production and distribution, a welcome development following recent discussions between SWA and the Scottish Government around workplace testing in wholesale.

The Scottish Law Commission (SLC) has written to SWA to confirm that possible reform of the law relating to termination of shop and warehouse leases has been paused.

THE Scottish Wholesale Association has embarked on the first phase of an ambitious project designed to help members and the wider wholesale sector become greener and more sustainable, and ultimately decarbonise the wholesale food supply chain and achieve net-zero emissions by 2045, if not before.

The Scottish Wholesale Association has bolstered its numbers after a lockdown recruitment drive that saw nearly 30 wholesalers join the trade group.

A NEW Scottish Wholesale Food and Drink Resilience Fund has been established by the Scottish Government to help qualifying wholesalers affected by coronavirus restrictions cover fixed costs for a six-month period from October 2020.

This follows months of ongoing discussions between SWA, its members and officials within the Scottish Government food and drink team.

Further to the Scottish Government's announcement on the launch of a £5m Scottish Wholesale Food & Drink Resilience Fund, SWA provides wholesalers with advice and help in the application process.
