| James Wilson (Orkney) Issue: Packaging waste compliance The SWA, through its independent adviser Scott Brady, assisted one of our Members, James Wilson (Orkney), in complying with packaging waste regulations. A work plan was discussed, covering: - Gathering packaging waste data
- Completing the data form to be returned to SEPA (Scottish Environmental Protection Agency)
- Sending information to the compliance scheme
- Monitoring compliance costs and tonnage charges
Outcome: Compliance with the regulations Cost implications: James Wilson (Orkney) saved thousands of pounds by working with the SWA George Kirkpartrick, managing director of James Wilson (Orkney), explains: “We had to decide whether to go with one of the big service providers, which would have been very costly, or try to compile the information ourselves. Scott checked the figures for our database before sending the information to the compliance scheme and SEPA. “He helped us to cut through the red tape and saved us a great deal of money. I would recommend him to anyone within the SWA – he has extensive experience and was very helpful. With his guidance, we will now be looking at health & safety issues.” http://www.sepa.org.uk/ |
